South Seas Miami Beach

Anybody stay here or know anything about this hotel?? Any information would help. Thanks.

No one's jumping on this post, so I'll bite. The South Seas is a pretty OK choice for beachfront in South Beach. It's located among the bigger, chic hotels on Collins, and is a well-maintained Deco-era mid-rise hotel. I haven't stayed there, but I've read pretty good comments on other travel websites. It's clean, the rooms are fine, and it's not ridiculously expensive. You can do far worse.

Not sure why this is posted under "Hawaii". Maybe you'd get better results if it was posted under Florida.

Just a thought.

This post doesn't screen to a specific state (that's an optional search parameter), so it comes up in all state screens.

Hi, this is a hotel in a great location fro short money. The rooms are small and basic and a bit dated but they are very clean and the hotel is well maintained. It just isn't as fancy as the rest in this area. But the price is right rooms start at $125 a night and you can't beat that in South Beach

Sorry, no South Seas hotel in Montana where I found this posted!!!

BettyInToronto Dec 11th, 2003 06:19 AM

To rjw_lgb_ca: All I was suggesting was that when PISTOLPZ created the post, s/he should have picked the proper state for it to be shown in. I didn't realize if you left it blank, it shows in all states when searched for by state.

PISTOLPZ Dec 12th, 2003 10:57 AM

Thanks for the answers. I posted in every state because some of you may live in montana but have travaled to Florida and may know something about the hotel. If you were only searching for you're answer to your question or doing your own research then you may not have come across my post in another state.

Anymore input here???? Thanks

Pistolpz, I've stayed at the South Seas several times and it is great! It is a great buy for the money. It is oceanfront steps from the swanky Ritz-Carlton, Delano, Shore Club and Loews. Also steps to Lincoln Road Mall. This is one of those hotels that is a good buy.

Caveat emptor, for $125 you will get a small room but most of the deco hotels have very small rooms.

Don't book a double thinking you will be able to squeeze 4 people in the room.

Thanks Gotravel. Much appreciated! Got a great rate there. Think 3 nights there, 2 nights in Key West and then one night in West Palm with my girlfriends grandmother is how my trip is working out. All in that order.

GoTravel Dec 17th, 2003 10:51 AM

May I suggest skipping West Palm? It is inland. Singer Island is a great choice! We love to stay on the back side where all the marinas, bars, shops, and restaurants are located. You can stay at one of the quaint, well kept, pretty little motels and swim in the pool while watching the billion dollar yachts go by.

Betty from Toronto, this was posted in ALL states not just Montana.

Thanks again Betty but we are going to west palm to see my girlfriend's grandmother so the island won't work out. we are staying with her for the last night.

I stayed at the South Seas. The interior was fine/clean, but the pool area was beautiful! I also loved the area beyond it, which has palm trees with hammocks strung in-between. It was within walking distance of the main strip, which was nice, and the Delano was just 1 or 2 doors down. My only gripes were the occasional loud music from surrounding hotels, and the extremely hard water which left an awful white film on my hair and skin (I don't know if this is a problem at all the SB hotels). However, there is a Walgreens (or something similar) just across the street where we bought a gallon of bottled water to remedy the problem.
