South Lake Tahoe

Looking for activities and restaurant recommendations for this area.

For what it's worth, most of the area known as South Lake Tahoe is actually in California.

What time of year? Driving around the lake is fun, we wanted to take a boat ride but only one was running at the time (Nov).

Same question - Tahoe has some great hiking, but I wouldn't recommend it in winter.

Which actives ( other than gambling/dining) totally are dependent ontheseason. When?

For food we're big fans of Base Camp Pizza Co. in the village (great salads and sometimes live music), also Red Hut for breakfast/lunch and Scusa for dinner.

What everyone else said about activities.

fdecarlo is in my head!
Love BCP and Red Hut, too.
Jalapeno baconnnnnnn.

We ate at Friday's Station at the top of Harrahs a few months ago and the food was excellent and you can't beat that view.

The Oyster Bar at Hard Rock is also pretty good but gets crowded.

We've stayed at Hard Rock and Marriott Timber Lodge and there are some good hiking/biking trails right behind Timber Lodge.
