South- June or Sept

Hi all,
Currently planning a fly drive for the south east and wondering which month to visit. Would Louisiana be too hot in June ? Would Sept/Oct be a better option?

Thanks

September, especially considering the rest of your itinerary that you described on other threads: D.C. to Memphis to New Orleans.

D.C. in June will have lots of tourists and it could get quite hot. September is one of the best months for weather in D.C.

I drover from D.C. to Memphis to northern Louisiana in September a few years ago and the weather was just right. Boring driving through Tennessee as the interstate is closely boardered by trees, so there was no view for long stretches.

June is usually very hot and humid in the South. Early Sept. can be as well.

I live in Texas, but our weather patterns are similar to Louisiana. Both months are hot, but the past several years have proved that Sept has higher temps. Personally, I would choose Oct.(mid-late) then June and lastly Sept.

One other note, Sept. will be peak time for hurricanes. June and Oct are not.

June will be cooler than September in Louisiana. Also September is peak hurricane season. I know that's hard to understand for anyone not from the Gulf South, but people from South Texas/Louisiana know that July, August, and September are usually the hottest months.

I agree with ilovetulips. There is a lower hurricane threat in June.
