South Carolina Beaches

Hi!
We're going to be staying in Georgetown for Memorial Day Weekend. I was wondering if someone could recommend a nice beach in the area. We would prefer something between Georgetown and Charleston, unless Myrtle Beach is nicer.
Please Help.

Pawley's Island is a beautiful beach not far from Georgetown. The locals call it "arrogantly shabby." Georgetown has a great market/coffeeshop and other good places to eat, but no real beach. Charleston has beaches too: folly beach and isle of palms. Avoid Myrtle Beach, unless you're a teenager--then it's heaven.

Myrtle Beach is a nice beach, but is very touristy and very family oriented. You don't say if you are traveling with kids, but would probably avoid it unless they are teens.

Litchfield Beach in Pawley's Island. No question. Don't go to Myrtle, you'll hate it.

Another vote for Pawleys Island. Get there early and go to the southern tip of the island. Fairly limited parking and it fills up quick. Pawleys is closer and nicer than Litchfield.
