South Beach Hotels -- Help Please

The Tides. Each room comes equipped with a telescope for your viewing pleasure. Pricey, but worth it.

Choosing a hotel in South Beach that meets your needs is a snap. For example, query Travel & Leasure's database - this magazine published an article on those hotesl a few years ago. There is also at least one guidebook specifically on South Beach - contact Crown. Basically, what you want is along one street across from Lummus Park, and it runs 10-15 blocks. Also, query Miami Beach on the Internet. I'm surprised you're having a problem obtaining information.

There are many good choices, but there are many different types of hotels at many different price ranges. For any good recommendation, you need to at least specify a price range, and whether you like big, resort type hotels with many facilities, or a small, more intimate hotel with little or no facilities. Both types of hotels exist in South Beach at all price ranges. Also note that many of the smaller hotels don't have swimming pools, but the beach is very close.

Location is most important factor -- we don't really care about size, amenities, price, etc.

As a previously posted said, the hotels are all along the one street, so it's basically everything's in a decent location. Just use internet to access south beach and look at the hotels. Also, any Fodors or other guide will give you reasonable choices.

The Case Grande is a very elegant hotel. The location is excellent since it is not only located on Ocean Drive (the coolest strip) but also has the best location on Ocean Drive. Even better that Tides. They are both pricey about $300 per night. Eventhough they are both owned by the owner of Island records, Casa Grande is by far more unique. Don't get me wrong, Tides is an great property but Casa Grande had very thing Tides has but in more intimate scale. I go to south beach about 3 times a year for fun and the Casa Grande is a property that can be enjoy alone or with a friend. Because of it's elegance, I would highly recommend it to a couple looking fro a romantic setting. The Ocean Front hotel, like the Casa Grande is also an intimate hotel with an oceanview. Unlike the Casa Grande which as a more mediterranean influence, the Ocean Front has more of a french influence. I was in South Beach for the first time a few weeks ago with some girlfriends for my bachelorette party. We stayed at The Delano--I think Madonna owns it. It is beautiful--very pricey but price is not an issue, this is an amazing hotel right on the beach and very close to all the bars and clubs. Also, I heard the Lowes Hotel and The Clevelander are both very good--both on the beach, good location and less expensive.

LIke I said&lt; I stayed at the Bayliss, CHEAP, GREAT LOCATION, clean, neat, private, comfortable, and right near the heart of it all!! Can't go wrong. Promise. <BR> <BR> <BR>

Uche, Thanks for the info on Casa Grande. I am booked there in a couple of weeks and wasn't sure about the place other than it's in the higher price end. Are the rooms fairly quiet. I.E insulated windows, etc. What about room location? Are all the rooms facing Ocean Drive? Thanks, bl
