South Beach Hotel

Hi all,

Deciding between a few for July 2004 (going to wedding in Miami). Want to be on the beach, $$$ not an object. 3 Twenty 25 year old ladies. Would like a nice pool too.
Choices:

Tides, Sagamore, National, Marriott. Delano and Shore Club sold out or I would stay at Shore Club.

Thanks

If money is no object, maybe you can check into the new Ritz Carlton in the same area as the Delano?

I agree...check out the Ritz Carlton South Beach. They offer a Bed and Breakfast package offering a deluxe room and full breakfast for 2 at $239 per night. There is no charge for the 3rd person in the room, unless you want a rollaway and that would be $25 per night.Breakfast for the 3rd would be on their own.

Third reco on the Ritz-Carlton. New renovation of a cool Morris Lapidus design, and that Ritz-Carlton service! Can't go wrong.

Of the properties in your list, the National first (gorgeous, historic, photogenic), then the Sagamore (all-suites property), then the Tides (cool, but across Ocean Drive from the beach). The Marriott isn't bad, but it doesn't have the history or cachet of the other hotels.

Ritz-Carlton South Beach.

I'm not a big fan of the location of the Marriott.

rjw, I thought The Tides was next door to the Royal Palm on Collins? Is it on Ocean Drive?

Love me that Delano infinity pool.

And their enormous rainforest showers, sans door. I think we took like four showers each in our day and a half stay.

In the evening the sparkly lobby/bar area is really cool place to be too. The service was really something--our private concierge actually let himself in once (shudder), and everyone wants to do $omething for you. It's an over-the-top hipster-type experience. The room was very white, but quite cool and calm feeling, and soft n comfy. Our "ocean view" room was pretty pathetic on the view end, so not worth it unless you have to get it to have a rainforest shower.

But oh, that pool area, were it not for the KIDS everywhere (March 2003), I could spend the rest of my life there, jaunting fancifully between my chaise 'n' Evian, a float in the pool, the daybed on the shady lawn, and a bedded lounge on the beach.

They sent me a little inflatable Delano beach ball in the mail a while back to entice me back. It's the only free thing I ever got from them.

Oh my gawd, I just noticed you said both the Shore Club AND the Delano are sold out, I misread that. Sorry if I got drool on you.

I know the Loews (1601 Collins) is right next to the Royal Palm on Collins if that's what you were thinking of.

I was thinking of the Loews.

Roxy, I love the Delano also! I can't wait to go back there on my birthday and drink Mojitos!

Next time you are down, check out The Shore Club. Beleive it or not, it makes the Delano look worn out. It's run by Ian Shragers management group.
