South Beach

Couple from England looking for a good quality hotel in South Beach walking distance to Lincoln Avenue (I think thats where all the restaurants are) and Art Deco area.

Many thanks

ALL of South Beach is within walking distance of Lincoln Road (but not all the restaurants in South Beach are on Lincoln Road-- in fact, the very best ones aren't) and the Art Déco area-- by definition, South Beach is the Art Déco area of Miami Beach.

So you're giving us almost nothing to work with.

You can find good quality by several measures in many hotels. What's your price range? Do you want a new facility with all the Mod Cons, or do you want to try one of the little Déco-era boutique properties? Or do you want to go all-out at one of the big over-the-top hotels? Is oceanfront a big deal? Do you want a pool?

Narrow your criteria of acceptability a bit, then we can give suggestions. I can think of several possibilities.

Thanks for that rjw. We are looking for somewhere with mod cons but not an over the top hotel. Price range up to 150 dollars per night but not sure what this will get us. Would like to be on ocean front if possible any suggestions on restaurants particularly steak and sea food.
Many thanks

What is your time frame?

The exact same hotel room at the exact same hotel can fluctuate in price from $150 to $500 depending upon the season.

rjw, I love it!! He he he, Mod Cons!

The hotels in South Beach are expensive for what you get because the real estate is very expensive. Try the Best Western. When we were there we walked by it and thought it would be just fine next time. Even has a pool. See if I can't find an address for you.

Check out the hotel listings here on Fodors for Miami. Best Western is listed although it was only reviewed by one person and he wasn't impressed. We stayed at the Cardozo which was ok but not what you would expect for the price. The first room we had had a terrible mattress and the second room was ok with a corner window. It was noisy however because it is close to Ocean Ave.
