Sources for Ski lodging/packages in the Northeast?
 

Hi, we've finally decided to try a ski vacation this winter with the kids (we've previously only done day trips), and I have no idea where to begin when looking for packages, or lodging, etc. We would probably prefer a condo over an inn, but am open to any suggestions. We'll also need to rent equipment.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? We live in Connecticut, so anywhere within a 6 hour drive is fine. Our sons prefer snowboarding, and we're looking for an intermediate mountain. Thanks!

I think Okemo in central Vermont would be perfect for you. There are many ski in/ski out condos for rent right on the slopes, it's a very family-oriented resort with excellent facilities and grooming, and except for a couple of the hundred or so trails the entire mountain is easily handled by intermediates. A friend of mine has a condo in Waterville Valley in NH and just raves about it. I guess it's got everything you could want from a resort.

Actually, if you're willing to fly to a ski destination, I would recommend Utah or CO. We find the lower altitude in UT easier to adjust to and Park City is a great town with several ski areas within 45 min. and 3 right in the town for skiers of all abilities. It's only a 45 min. drive from the Salt Lake airport. Having said that, we'll be spending a month in CO next winter because of their cheap season passes. Anyway, the snow out west is much more predictable and doesn't ice up like it does in the NE. We prefer western skiing to Europe. Less hassle, better snow and easier trip. Others may disagree. All the areas will have websites. Do a Google search for specific addresses.
