Soup Kitchen
 
Last time we were in New York, we went to a walk-up soup kitchen close to Central Park. The soup was excellent, but I can't find my notes as to where it is. We are going back in July and want to stop by again. Anyone familiar?

Do you mean the International Soup Kitchen aka The Soup Nazi? He is usually closed in the summer but someone said he is trying to franchise his restaurant.

Yes. I believe that's it. We were in NYC in April the last time. Can't believe he's closed in the summer. I would still have soup! Thanks for the info.

Perhaps you would be bretter off not usng the term "soup kitchen". It refers to places run by churches and other charitable organizations where homeless people/derelicts are fed for free.

Where you were was a deli or restaurant - not a soup kitchen.

and I was getting ready to list a bunch of places where you could volunteer and serve soup! Sounds like you got your answer though.
