Soup in NYC in the Financial District

I'm currently at The Embassy Suites right behind the WTC (i know). I have been planning meetings that will take place 2x a month june/july/august. I'm starting to become familiar with the area and have noted a lot of places to eat/drink, but tonight I'd really like some GOOD HOME-MADE soup.

I'm traveling with a vegetarian, so I would like to try to accomodate her as well.

I realize the short notice - so if I don't get responses that I can use tonight I might use it later.

I am already familiar with the Deli's - which we really like for a quick bite, but would rather venture out to try something else.

Thank you in advance!

Go to and click on Financial District. Then click on Soups. Looks like a few good ones in the area!

Unfortunately a lot of places down there are closed on weekends, but if you are interested in places for during the week, here are a couple of suggestions: Soup Man on Trinity and Sophie's on New Street. Sophie's is Cuban, excellent chicken soup as well as other dishes. On weekends you might have to venture up to Tribeca.

There are two Hale and Hearty Soups in the financial district. I really enjoyed my soup last fall at the one in the Chelsea Market. They're in the link already provided.

Les Halles, although a steak restaurant makes a good french onion soup.
