As a grocery/gas station owner I can assure you I don't hate children or people who need to pee.
You need to understand that at some locations, a public restroom is not always feasible.
In my case its due to the fact that the only bathroom is in my office/stockroom. State Health Dept rules state that the general public is not allowed in this area.
For several years I provided a "porta potty" outside, but after repeatedly getting vandalized, I had to have it removed.
So please, the next time you go in a buiness without a public restroom, understand there may be a reason.

My opinion is that if you want repeat customers, you must provide for this basic human need.
I'm glad these places are in the minority.

...and IMO there is absolutely NO excuse for an eatery (Taco Bell & McDonald's in my case) NOT to have a facility to wash up in.

Since working at a junior high school for awhile now, I can now see the point of view of some store owners whose bathrooms are abused. It's amazing to me that people can make such horrible messes in bathrooms. Were these people brought up by wolves?!?

olesouthernbelle, The map of shame is at my blog, http://www.familyroadtrippers.blogsp...next-road.html
although you may be able to find it searching google maps.

I'll tell you what, Ranger, I won't call it a map of shame, and I won't rail against these folks. I'll just make it a public service map so that travelers can avoid making the same mistake I did -- getting out of the car, unloading a 3 yr old, etc...

I have worked in various restaurants and hotels, and even was a working partner for a restaurant and a snack bar. And I was a Burger King janitor for 2 college semesters.

Yes, there are some people who abuse bathrooms. But then I remember someone who drained their automobile oil onto the pavement near a drain one time too - but we continued to keep the parking lot open to the public.

When you open your doors the public in order to take peoples' money, you gotta take their cr*p too (pun intended).

Ranger - can you cite that health law prohibiting the public's use of the restroom?
