sorry to be generic but....
 

We are planning a honeymoon in October in Hawaii. Neither of us have been there and are looking for ideas on where to go, hotspots, terrific restaurants, resorts, etc. I would really appreciate any and all ideas/recommendations. <BR>Thanks.

Mark, <BR> <BR>First off, know that Hawaii will be hot and humid in October, more than you'd probably think, but still wonderful! You don't say how many days you will be staying. You will need to buy a good guide book about the Islands (I like Frommers best) to determine which islands sound appealing to you. Then stay on the Northern, cooler part of those islands that time of year. <BR> <BR>For one week, I'd do Maui or Kauai with the last two days on Oahu. If I had two weeks, I'd do three islands, with three or four nights on Oahu. If you and your fiancee are outdoorsy types, you will probably love the Big Island, as well as Kauai. <BR> <BR>You can't go wrong there - It's wonderful. I agree with the above, if you have 1 week, I'd do kauai and honolulu for two days. More time and I'd add maui and big island, but do research on big island as kona and hilo sides are very different. Also, northern oahu is very nice and much less touristy than oahu, sort of like being on another island when compared to honolulu. Also, i've seen postings from people on priceline/expedia message boards that indicate you might be able to get a good deal at the time you're thinking about going. good luck

Lani and Wild Bill, thank you very much for you informative and respectful replys. I really appreciate them. Sorry for the vague posting. We are going to be in Hawaii for 6 nights and are probably more prone to stay on 1 island though day trips are certainly possible. Although we are looking to kick back and enjoy ourselves, we would like to have access to good snorkeling, hiking, and good restaurants. If you have any other feedback, I'd really appreciate it. I don't think Mary and Bob were off-base at all. Your post wasn't clear and caused people who know nothing about Hawaii to waste time by reading it. Had you said "need Honeymoon help in Hawaii" it would have been much better!

Good God, anyone who is worried about wasting time should not be surfing a leisure site on the net! Do lighten up. If you want to kick back and relax, I would suggest Kauai. Very laid back and less commercial. Stay on the north shore for more laid back atmosphere. Try Hanalei-Vacations.com. We rented a cottage from them in May for 11 days right on the beach. It was wonderful. Be glad to answer any questions on Kauai. Have been there several times. I question the recommendations for Oahu for part of your time. Reasons to go there are city life (including nightlife) in Honolulu, Pearl Harbor, some famous surfing spots. Reasons not to go there are that it's far less beautiful, more crowded, less of a getaway. If it were me, I'd just pass through on my way to another island (or fly direct if possible) <BR> <BR>BTW, transferring between islands takes an annoyingly long time, considering that the time in the air is just a few minutes. For a one week vacation I wouldn't change islands more than once, twice in ten days to two weeks. <BR> <BR>As far as choosing among Kauai, Maui and Hawaii, they are all terrific in their own ways.
