Sonoma Wineries with other Attractions

Spending an upcoming week with my pregnant wife in Sonoma/Healdsburg so am interested in visiting wineries with something in it for her, be it interesting grounds, galleries or some kind of non-wine tastings (cheeses, olive oil, etc). Have been through numerous posts and have identified a few, but thought I'd ask for other suggestions. Thanks.

Well if you are talking about Healdsburg..there is a lovely farmer's market on Saturday morning. Beautiful produce and flowers. There are gardens to visit, and the town itself has great shops, restaurants and wine tasting.... check out www.sonomacountyvacations.com for interesting places to stay that might have beautiful views or gardens... not that I know what your wife's interests are... There is also The Armstrong Woods in nearby Guerneville which has beautiful Redwood Trees. Grab a picnic lunch and enjoy that part of the Russian River.

BR Cohn in Glen Ellen has a nice selection of olive oils for tastings. Go to the Sonoma Cheese Factory on the Sonoma Square for your cheese tasting. Gundlach-Bundschu is a nice place for a picnic and Imagery has some nice artwork. Have fun! ***kim*** ((f))

The market Kleroux is telling about is worth visiting. When Paula1470 (a Fodorite) took me there, some people brought the birds of prey from a sanctuary, it was entertaining to see them. And the food... aahhhh...

Also, if you're interested, Jack London park - his museum, burned down house, his and his wife's graves - and nice hikes - in Glen Ellen.

Hi Brian-
Right in Healdsburg you will find the Plaza Farms market with many delcious vendors. To name a few-there's Bellweather Farms cheese, DaVero olive oil,Scharffenberger chocolate, Teaspots teas and a terrifc
little restaurant called Bovolo that serves marvelous sandwhiches, pizza,
gelato.

The Farmers market that was previously mentioned also operates on Tues. from 4:00-6:3PM at the Plaza.

A walking tour might be fun-check out
www.healdsburgwalkingtours.com

A few miles east, over in the Alexander valley, the Jimtown Store is a really cool general store that dishes up gourmet lunches- www.jimtowm.com

Francis Ford Coppola has brought his show to the Healdsburg area. He purchased what was Chateau Souverain
and re-named it Rosso & Bianco.
Lovely grounds and the only winery with a cafe. He will eventually move all his
movie memorabilia there from his Rubicon Estate in Napa. If you've not seem an Oscar up close and personal they've already made the move.

Head out toward Guerneville-south on West side road, then west on Hwy 116
out to Hwy 1 and take in the Pacific
with a stroll on the beach.

For something totally different plan a visit to Safari West-I've done their tours quite a few times and it is a lot of fun=www.safariwest.com

You'll find lots to do here.
