Sonoma or Napa
We are going to San Francisco in May and although most people advised against going to the wine country for just one day, I can't convince my traveling companions of this...so..Which would be closer and easier to get to..Sonoma or Napa? We are not huge wine drinkers, but we do want to see the area and at least go to a winery.
I would appreciate your help. |
Do a search of this forum and you'll find many many threads discussing Napa/Sonoma.
Personally, I have a strong preference for Sonoma, because it's less crowded. Enjoy! |
Another vote for Sonoma or Healdsburg(Dry Creek area). It's less crowded, you are more likely to see small(not big corporate) wineries.
R5 just gave a list of small wineries in the area. Check the topics box and see what happens. To my memory, her new favorite is RAZ. |
R5 is "razzledazzle" - I haven't figured out which is razzle and which is dazzle
It's like the two party system, I haven't figured out which is "tweedledee" and which is "tweedledum" Just kidding! Have fun! another vote for Sonoma! :) |
Oh too funny, Pam-my own label-
yipee !!!! :)) KAZ is one of my new faves. It's in the Valley of the Moon near Glen Ellen in Sonoma County.... and everyone will tell you I am partial to my Sonoma County home. People will come on here and trip over themselves insisting you go to this winery or that. I say "Poo-poo-pish-tosh" If you are a serious collector with an insider's palette you will have done your own homework. As you are new to wine drinking and tasting, come and have F-U-N. Ask loads of questions at the wineries, find out what Y O U like. Avoid snobs at all costs ! Pam's idea of Healdsburg is good- beautiful countryside and a good concentration of wineries. Depends on the day, easytraveler,
unless Mr.R5 is with me, then he's "dazzling"to me! R5 |
I enjoy both regions very much. We started out visiting Napa Valley, then did Sonoma places a couple of years later. Napa Valley (Yountville, St. Helena) is a bit more upscale. :)
We'll be touring the Sonoma area soon. Have a wonderful time! ***kim*** ((f)) |
*kim* remember to tell us when you and DH are there so we can do an informal GTG. LOL! ((K))
Can't go wrong in Napa/Sonoma or Menocino, IMHO. |
