sonoma mission inn in sonoma, feedback?
Has anyone stayed here? and would you recomend? Any room in particular or is a bed and breakfast a better way to go for a one nighter in the wine country?
|
The resort is a great spa, but that's all there is! This place is not exactly close to the wineries and other restaurants.
|
Overpriced. We stayed there for a week with other family members and they put us in rooms all over the hotel, instead of close together, sent various family's orders (spa treatments, room services, faxes...) to the incorrect rooms, food was pretty bland and no where to go once you leave the property. DON'T SPEND THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll be much better off staying at the Gaige House Inn in nearby Glen Ellen. It's not only closer to the wineries, but it is a truly great (and sybaritically enjoyable) inn. I'd call it one of the best country inns in North America! (Best of all, you can walk to several restaurants!)

Great spa, newly remodeled but VERY expensive. Spend the money elsewhere you'll have a lot more to show for it.Glenn Ellen good area, much nicer scenery. Great wineries around Kenwood, north of Glenn Ellen on road to Santa Rosa.

Thanks Matt for asking this question--we were thinking of staying there and will now change our minds! Any other recommendations of favorite inns/b&bs near wineries are welcome.

Thanks,

Mary

I have to agree with the majority here- The Sonoma Mission was overpriced, inconvenient and overall not worth it. I further agree that the Gaige House was wonderful! We spent the extra money for the private cotage and it was very romantic.
