Sonoma County Dining

My husband and I will be traveling to Santa Rosa in 3 weeks and staying for a week. We like any type of food. We are looking for some good restaurant recommendations in the Sonoma County area. We stayed in Napa last year and enjoyed some great restaurants there. We will be celebrating our anniversary, so some place a little more special for that night. Also, any recommendations for dining on the coast, i.e. Bodega Bay? Thanks!!!

Here's one thread that comes to mind.

Type in either Sonoma or Santa Rosa into the "search this forum" box -- there are tons of recommendations for the area. ((b))

One of my favorites:
Willi's
Oysters and yummy small plates,

Ravenous
A local favorite;steaks pasta,fish
very fresh local ingrediants

Madrona Manor
Continental cuisine in a richly
decorated Victorian setting.

Santi
A short jaunt to Geyserville

Cyrus
This might be fun for your anniversary!

Located within the new luxury hotel
Les Mars, is getting raves and my
industry friends say the buzz is
that it will be the French Laundry
of Sonoma County. I know the room has to be gorgeous as an old boss,
Howard Backen of Backen Gillam Architects is the architect/interior designer, it will be sumptuos for sure!
It is going to be expensive-dinners are
3,4,or 5 courses and start around $50.
We shall see.....

For a true treat out on the Coast-take Hwy 116 West out to Jenner and dine at
Rivers End
Spectacular views and terrific food!

In Bodega Bay, go for the
Seaweed Cafe

As you are fairly central and north
Sonoma in Santa Rosa-I didn't list any places in/near the town of Sonoma proper.
You'd be about an hours drive away.

Enjoy!

Speaking of Madrona Manor, nice place, wonderful setting. Haven't eaten there, but Pezzi King moved their tasting room to Madrona Manor. Their 2000 Zin is superb!!! should you have a chance to stop by. ((b))

We're locals. In downtown Santa Rosa La Gare. French and we never had a bad meal. Just south of Sebastopol newly opened Bistro V (used to be Chez Peyo). Had a great dinner there-French Italian. The chef/owners come from Palo Alto and have quite a reputation. Food was excellent. John Ash & Company is excellent. In the vineyards just north of Santa Rosa off River Road. Beautiful setting. A new Italian place is open (unadvertised-during shakeout period in Sebastopol on Bodega Hwy and Pleasant Hill Rd). They have been working on it for several years. It is gorgeous inside. Have not eaten there yet but at least stop by for a drink. The place is awsome. It still has the old Marty's Top of the Hill sign but it's the "new place" without a sign. The Duck Club restaurant at the Bodega Bay Lodge is great with great views of the ocean. Also the Russian River Vineyards Inn on Gravenstein Hwy near Forestville has always been a great place. Enjoy!!
