Pruetwo, check an AAA guide for motels on Highway 31W from Louisville to Radcliff. Fort Knox is not far from Louisville, and there are many motels along the highway.

There is a Patton Museum at Fort Knox. The Lincoln birthplace is at Hodgenville, KY. No museum that I am aware of. Lots of sightseeing in Louisville--Churchill Downs Museum, Frazier Arms Museum, Slugger Bat Museum, Speed Art Museum, Riverfront Park with a baseball stadium.

Jack Daniels is owned by Brown-Forman of Louisville, but it is made in Tennessee. There are distillery tours available, some in Bardstown that is not too far away and where My Old Kentucky Home is located.

Our grandson finishes his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC, in September.

I had a lunch in Elizabethtown today (south of Fort Knox) and drove back up on 31W. There are not nearly as many motels as I had thought since quite a lot of the area is part of the military reservation.

I saw three in Radcliff (that's Wal-Mart country out there). One was an Econo-Lodge, and the others were the Fort Knox Inn and the Gold Vault Inn. The Gold Vault looked new and may be okay. I wouldn't try the Fort Knox Inn. Either Louisville or E'town would be 20-25 miles to drive but would have better lodging (and food).
