Something romantic in Seattle
 

We'll be in Seattle in August and I plan to propose to my girlfriend. I'm planning on doing it at Snoqualmie Falls in the morning and then having a champagne brunch at Salish Lodge. Any ideas for romantic things to do later in the day?

There are lots of romantic things to do in Seattle, but I see you are not getting responses. Perhaps others--like me--aren't thrilled with your plan to propose at Snoqualmie Falls. It is a very public place unless you hike to the base of the falls. Also, brunch at Salish Lodge is very expensive and probably not as romantic as you hope.

I think you would do better with brunch at Salty's, proposing with a view of Seattle--or on the ferry to Bainbridge Island with brunch over there.

See if you can get hold of a book titled Best Places to Kiss to Kiss in the Northwest. It should have some ideas for you.

Breakfast in the Georgian room at the Olympic Hotel is romantic. There are so many possibilities.

Agree about the "public place". How about a room with a view at Inn at the Market? Have room service with the ring on the tray.

BTW~Brunch at Salish Lodge is just OK.

Plus in August, and especially this coming August (from all portents) there is so very little water in the Snoqualmie that it's more the Snoqualmie Dribbles than the Snoqualmie Falls. Awesome it ain't.

There are some alternative romantic venues you might think about - on a ferry at sunset then dinner; on one of the many harbor cruises, some of which morph into quite nice dinner/dancing cruises; in a canoe in the back channels of the Union Bay/Washington Park Arboretum waterways (near the University of Washington); in the Japanese Gardens in the same Arboretum; at the Pike Market; in a sailboat on Lake Union... probably others can think of more and better.

Romantic is so subjective it's hard to answer this...I think backpacking to a remote location is romantic, lol. Maybe if you could give us some examples of what your girlfriend finds romantic we could better help?
