Some news on Roy and his Tiger
|
Apparently, the cat had never traveled to Houston, Texas. |
Jack- lol!
As a native Houstonian, I agree. I plan to conduct an experiment this weekend. I will make my hair big (imagine a whole can of Aquanet), and go to the Houston Zoo. I wonder how many other animals will react to my hair? |
I am waiting to hear from New Jersey.
|
The way Siegfried told it in the interview I heard, the tiger actually crouched to get a better look at her big hair. She was confused, tried to pet it and it all went bad fast. Roy tried to step between the two etc etc. According to Siegfried, the tiger was "protecting" Roy by taking him off stage--away from the woman? Not to make light of this, but I'd be curious as to what she looked like that was so bad as to distract a tiger--in Vegas of all places where that tiger had seen most everything!! Did she resemble a lion with a mane?
|
I wonder about this too. Somehow, I can't believe that this woman was the first with "big hair" to visit Las Vegas and take in the S & R show.
|
But wasn't this that tigers first show? Perhaps he'd never seen a big haired woman before.
|
The line about that performance being the tiger's first was just a routine part of the act.

His partner was on Larry King and another show. It happens! when you deal with a wild animal, no matter how you think you have it under control, it can suddenly attack you, he admits that. MSN news is like Fox, ignore it. Anom is right, the cat has been performing with them for something like 8 years.
So big, brown, haired ladies, don't panic. |
It was Siegfried giving that version in the interview I saw Mimi, rather than an MSN or Fox report. I'm not sure I buy it, but that was what he attributed the attack to.
|
Yes, Seigfried and their manager were on Larry King (CNN)
I see this article is from an interview with Steve Wynn. |
I miss what you don't buy,,,,this is a wild animal. which means unpredictable, even tho you think you have trained it.
And MSN is like FOX |
Mimi...this wasn't as reported on MSN OR Fox--it was an interview with Siegfried and I believe it was on Larry King, as Lola said. What I don't buy is the tiger dragging Roy off in an effort to protect him, as Siegfried said. I believe animal nature most likely overcame training as much as they would like to believe, or have us believe, otherwise.

When Mama tigers/lions (or any cat) pick up their cubs by the neck (which they do), they don't normally pierce their necks. I'm sure it MAY happen sometimes. But if it happened alot then there wouldn't be any tigers/lions running around. |
Jack, A human's skin is just a little bit thinner than a tiger's skin. Tigers have very thick skin. A human neck does not.
If the tiger was truly trying to kill Roy, he could have easily snapped his neck or tore it apart. Apparently, the videotape of the incident, showed that the tiger did not jerk Roy's body around (which it would have done if it was attacking) but just grazbbed him by the neck and walked off stage. The tiger wasn't trying to save Roy from the woman in the audience. When Roy fell, 4 security people came on stage. The tiger may very well have become confused and thought Roy was in danger. Anyway, we'll never know for sure what the tiger intended but this explanation is not as far fetched as you many of you think. |
Anyone planning to get the tiger's reaction? Has Larry scheduled him as a guest? Perhaps FOX could get his take between innings. Jerry, could you get Roy and the Tiger on stage together?
|
Maybe Roy should have clipped his nails.
|
See for yourselves how it happened...
