Every year spouse and I rent a cottage in Montecito, just inbetween SB and Summerland. What a beautiful area!
I absolutely love to trip up to Solvang for the day to shop, especially at ~Pearls of Provence. It is especially a treat for me being a lover of all things Provence.
Might I suggest from Solvang drive over to Los Olivos and spend the night at Fess Parker's Inn. We did that once. The rooms are very nice, decorated in French Country theme. It is quite charming and Mr. Parker (Davy Crockett) usually is there on Thursday evenings. Directly across the street you could have a most delicious dinner at the Los Olivos Inn, featured in movie Sideways. Fabulous wine bar. The countryside is beautiful and we enjoy visiting there at least twice yearly. It is a real treat for us.
