Solvang

Does anybody know anything about Solvang? I remember going there as a kid, but don't remember much about it.

Although it's a very touristy place I loved it! It's like going to Europe! It's a Dutch town with windmills, very cute, mostly hotels, restaurants and shops, shops, souveniers, souveniers :) 1 or 2 museums, a mission... that's about it. Don't plan on staying there, 1/2 day should be enough. Oh, and I've heard from a man who loves beer it's a "beer haven". Can't confirm that.

It's a "cutsie" town modeled on a Danish city with lots of gingerbread store fronts. Lots of shops and bakeries but not much else. A couple of hours would be all I would spend there.

Good danish and fudge, but too many outlet shops for my taste.

Mission Santa Inez is next to town and worth a visit. Nicest place to stay in area is Ballard Inn in Ballard. The bakeries and little restaurants are very good.

I agree with the above comments about Solvang. Interesting that the place is just jammed with people. I suspect that every tour bus must stop at the town. The only shop there that I thought was even worth a browse was a shop filled with dolls, heaven for some little girls.
