Solo Breakfasts in Sonoma?

I am accompanying my husband on a week-long business trip at the Fairmont Sonoma. I understand from reading on this board that it is about a mile out of the town of Sonoma. I will have the mornings to myself and think I will feel couped-up on the hotel property, from the sounds of it. Can anyone recommend out-of-the way places for leisurely breakfasts on my own (coffee, newspaper, and light food)? (I will have a car.) We will also be looking for to-go lunches so that we can get out to the wineries before they close; any suggestions for that as well? Appreciate your help!

topping, anyone? If not Sonoma, how about towns close by? I'd appreciate any advice on small cafes.

Hi Jeannie,

Barking Dog Roasters
http://www.barkingdogcoffee.com/
is right acros the stret from the Fairmont. Big 3 Diner is adjacent to the hotel. Both are easily walking distance.
Garden Court Cafehttp://www.gardencourtcafe.com/
in Glen Ellen has great breakfasts.
Basque Boulangerie

on the Sonoma Square is a good coffee/bakery place.
Fiorini Bakery
http://www.fiorinisonoma.com/
is an italian place with pastries and coffee. Artisan bakers is another. Follini and Eichenbaum, located on Arnold Drive is also a quiet place to relax with the paper, croissant and Peets coffee. The Fig Pantry, on the east side of town, is my new favorite place for great coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.
For take out,
Sonoma Market
The Cheese Factory
The Fig Pantry

The Cheesemakers Daughter

These are some of our favorite places.

Great summary from bern. Barking Dog has very good coffee near to you. The Sonoma Market also runs the Glen Ellen Market in Glen Ellen. Although smaller, it also has wonderful sandwiches as well as other take out deli items for lunch.

I forgot to add Olive and Vine in Glen Ellen for good take out.
While you are there, go to the Olive Press and Wine Country Chocolates.
Have fun, Jeannie!
