Somewhere I read that Soho was== south of etc. Cam someone explain where this name came from? Thanks

In the event you're curious about other neighborhood names in NYC....

Tribeca = triangle below Canal (Street)

Nolita = north of Little Italy


Clinton District = a made-up name for Hell's Kitchen - the gov't of NYC did it for PR reasons and everyone still calls it Hell's Kitchen.
