SoBe for honeymoon....what about these "velvet rope" clubs?

It's funny because when I read that you were driving from West Virginia I thought to myself "wow, if they're coming from WV, they'll NEVER get into a club in SoBe".

Don't be offended by that, please. It's not a personal jab, I assure you.

It's just that normal people who look good, dressed normally, simply will not, under any circumstances, get into a club in SoBe.

OK, it's not really that bad, but leave the khakis and such at home. There will be a rope, and men dressed in lizard pants with tassled/ruffled shirts will cruise through the line with no hassles. Definitely invest $300 into a nice set of designer shades, the kind you can wear indoors. Everybody wears those. Dress sexy. Walk with confidence. I am from New York, go to clubs reasonably frequently but still could not gain entrance to many places. It's a HUGE hassle, becuase you'll spend a while getting ready and driving to a particular place only to stand in line for ever. We did have a blast though. Be prepared to spend $$$ in the club. One way to gain entrance is to make table reservations. This means that they'll give you a small table and in return you have to buy a bottle - usually champage, sometimes vodka (my preferred) and at the cost of about $250 per bottle, plus tip.

We were even on teh list at one place but no way were they letting us in! And both em and my girlfriend are very hip, and attractive.

Have a blast in SoBe. It's quite a trip.

That's more like it. My fiance and I have never had to wait in line to get into a Stuckeys. Or a Dennys for that matter!

Once and for all, we are NOT FROM WEST VIRGINIA! I appreciate yups comments though...we just weren't really sure about necessity for reservations, etc. Do most places stay crowded all week long? We were sort of worried that in August, the town would be dead!

Casey (the real casey),

We were astounded to find lines down the block to gain entrance to the clubs on Monday (yes, Monday) night at 3am (so it's actually Tuesday morning).

Sunday was hog wild. Friday was hog wild. Saturday was especially crazy. So was Thursday for that matter.

This is a hilarious thread. Seriously Casey, I don't know what type of bar scene you've done but it's very New York hits Ibiza.
Don't look desperate to get in and don't have a cocky attitude. Don't beg or get mad at the doormen. Get names of managers that you get from the concierge and drop those names casually.
Many of the South Beach residents are in the Hamptons or New York during that time especially weekends.
Dress hip and flashy but not trailer trashy.

Don't worry about it. These people are creating so much drama in here. I am in South Beach every Friday and Saturday night. I just got back right now (447am) and I was at the Janet Reno Dance Party at LEVEL last night. You do not need a tie but no jeans or sneakers. Rememeber to dress for the humidity as it is sooo humid on the beach at night. Many clubs will BEG you to come in, especially early (before 12am). In the winter it tends to be more selective than in the summertime. As long as you are not wearing SHORTS or look like trailer trash you will have no problem at even the best of them, i.e. Crobar, Level, Steam, Opium Garden, Salvation/1771, the new Liquid, Clevelander, Billboard Live, and many more.

I'll agree with the last writer. If you go before midnight, you are going to be better off. The difference this past weekend between 11 and 1 am in line at Spin on Lincoln Road was insane (as was the male/female ratio). These places are pretty overrated, so bring your sense of humor and you'll have a good time.

You people (the ones who hijacked casey's name, in particular) really live sad, small lives if the pinnacle of your existence is being ushered into a club in Miami.
Someday when you're 80 years old and about to die I wonder how worthwhile all that effort and energy will seem.

Not a criticism toward those who casually go to clubs on occasion to blow off steam. But toward those who make getting into a club a self-validating process, you need some therapy!
