Children's Museum website is bostonkids.org No indication there of it being closed and I have not heard any news of it being closed. Perhaps do you mean the old Computer Museum which years ago was housed in the same building?

WOW! So much to think about. Well I waited too long on the Omni and they only had smoking rooms left. No way, we would do that to our kids. We could still get a room at the Courtyard Boston Tremont Hotel. They said they could provide a crib and a refridge. We have to stay somewhere that my DH's company will get us a room at & that is close to our $161.00 per diem per night. Is this a clean hotel? Is the location better than the Residence Inn? It seemed better on the map. I recently read that Boston is one of the cities that has the fewest births per capita. Hmmmmm, I wonder why? Coult it be space?

I think the Courtyard on Tremont is a better choice than Residence (even though I'm the Charlestown lover). I haven't actually been to the Courtyard but it appears to be across the street from our Wang Center which is a beautiful theatre used for the Ballet and other cultural performances. So the Courtyard is technically in our theatre district which has improved greatly in the past few years. You would be right across from an Orange Line station (that probably has an elevator) and two blocks from the Boston Common. It would be a 10 minute walk to 1 Beacon Street.
I'd take it. |
The Boston Children's Museum is most definitely open!
It's a great place to bring the kids. Have a great time! |
Courtyard is much better location - although it will still be a hike to tourist things.
Low birth rate in Boston may be due to fact that Boston is so expensive that many young people can not afford to live there and live in outlying areas instead. Also, public schools are not very good so when people reach having-kids stage in life, some opt for moving out of city. |
Be aware that many of the T stations in Boston are not "accessible" -- in other words, no elevators, just escalators and in some cases only stairs. So be prepared with respect to strollers and toddlers.
