Update - dh is out of town in the am - and I thought DIL could watch dd - she cannot - so I am trying to find a sitter for her...

paula1470 Dec 15th, 2008 06:07 PM

rkkwan-I also am sorry to hear that you are dealing with health problems. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Yes this rain has been terrible but hopefully will be a little better tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting new Fodorites. Dawn-how old is your daughter? Why don't you just bring her with you? That way you could at least come for a little bit. I'd really like to meet you as I know the others would.

I should be there around 6pm. Maybe have to skip out a little early as I have a longer drive home but it all depends on how my day goes tomorrow.

Swisshiker-I hope you make it to the airport. We can't have the GTG without you.

I might be a little closer to 6:30 as well. I have a 4:30 meeting in Ontario and will leave from there.

MomDDTravel Dec 15th, 2008 07:01 PM

dd is 11.5 - she actually babysits but I am not comfortable with leaving her for a great time at night.

ltr Dec 15th, 2008 07:57 PM

Please bring her. Fodorites come in all ages and after all, she is leaving for Paris in a few days.

kevin109 Dec 15th, 2008 09:44 PM

hey guys, i actually might not be able to go tomorrow. I'm still in new york right now, its 143 am and i just got home from the opera. TOmorrow i'm catching flight to LA, seeing patients in the afternoon, and I think i'll be too wiped out. I woulda loved to meet the ppl on this board though. hopefully the timing works out better

MomDDTravel Dec 16th, 2008 07:09 AM

I am still working on a sitter. I would bring her - but I brought her to the gtg in Philly and she made me promise to NEVER do that to her again.

<i> but I brought her to the gtg in Philly and she made me promise to NEVER do that to her again.</i>

Was it THAT BAD? :P

You all have a great time today. Swisshiker, have a safe trip, and safe travels to everyone as I heard it might rain some more tonight.

I'm too exhausted at this point to make it to the GTG tongiht, I'm sure you all understand. Have an extra drink on me! :)

cat111719 Dec 16th, 2008 07:29 AM

YK, we will have that drink, and a toast to you and Ray, both!

yk Dec 16th, 2008 09:15 PM

Details, please! ;)

I am sorry I missed it! I actually was able to get a babysitter - and picked dd up from her tennis at 5:00 and we came home and there was a large power outage in our area and I was unable to leave my dd and the sitter (who was my stepdaughter who spends Tuesday at her Moms house)... sooo...I ended up taking the girls and meeting dh's ex wife and the four of us had dinner.

Hope it was a great time!!

Hello everyone from the GTG. I just wanted to say what a nice time it was. I enjoyed meeting you all. I hope we do it again. :)

paula1470 Dec 18th, 2008 06:39 AM

It was nice to meet new Fodorites and see old friends. Kal-I don't think we got any pictures unless they took one after I left.

Swisshiker-Hope you have an uneventful trip back to Texas. Enjoy the holidays.

rkkwan Dec 18th, 2008 07:03 PM

Sorry I missed it. I guess you've heard enough of my excuses! :p

Cali Dec 18th, 2008 10:44 PM

Hi All, Wish I could have been there. We are in MN for a very &quot;White Christmas&quot;. Maybe I can make the next one. Happy Holidays All!!

See what happens when I am not there :))

Another great Fodor's GTG!! It is always so much fun to meet the real person behind the screen names.

And can you believe this? One of the attendeeds and I went to the same high school at the same time! Small world! (Yikes, tho, as she's going to check out the yearbook from waaaaay back. Oh, those hairdos from the '70s.)

The restaurant was a superb hit! I had the butternut squash ravioli, which tasted like pumpkin pie encased in delicate pasta with a butter sauce. Yum!

But IMO, Mr. Cat had the winning dish - the special carnivore's delight, Rib Eye with wine reduction sauce - RARE! A man after my own heart! ((L))

Thanks, Katie, for the books and luggage tags. Always fun to see who ends up with what. I proudly displayed my luggage tag on my trip back to Texas.

Our $10 gift exchange worked perfectly! We chose numbers, then picked a wrapped gift. Lots of creative ideas. I will enjoy my &quot;1000 Places To See Before You Die&quot; 2009 desk calendar.

Our first toast of the evening was to Ray, and I'm tickled pink to read he's on the mend. We missed you, Ray! Next time for sure!

Love of travel brings us together. Friendships last a lifetime!

Thanks for a great evening, my Fodor friends!
