San Antonio tours, restaurants and shopping
I am looking for tour, restaurant and shopping recommendations for spouses attending a business meeting. We will be staying on the Riverwalk and not have automobiles. All price ranges of restaurants appreciated.

If you're on the Riverwalk, that's all you need! The Rivercenter Mall and the Mercado (Mexican market) will have the best shopping. The perenial favorite Mexican restaurant in your immediate area is Mi Tierra, but there are also all sorts of others up and down the Riverwalk. We love Dirty Nellie's and Dick's Last Resort for fun in the evenings. have a wonderful time- San Antonio is a great city!

Entertainment: The Landing for very good jazz, river boat "cruise"
Shopping: Rivercenter Mall on riverwalk, North Star Mall & one right across street
San Antonio is a fun city with 2 amusement parks & lots to do. You will have a great time.

La Mansion Hotel has a wonderful restaurant right on the riverwalk. Ask to sit outside. Patio's are up high and it is great fun to people watch right across from Planet Hollywood. It is expensive with violin music. Boutros is real nice too and not the touristy type restaurant. We were just there for a week on business and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was, clean and safe with friendly people and the weather was perfect. Hot hot hot but not too humid yet. Enjoy. You can e-mail me if you like.

One of my favorite places for breakfast of lunch is the Gunther House. It is the home of the founder of the Pioneer Flour Mills and is located in the Historic King William District. You can take a trolly there for about $0.25. You should also walk around this area as this is where all of the old victorian homes are located. At least one is open to the public for tours. Enjoy!

second the recommendations for Mi Terra, great shrimp cocktail with avocado, great bakery. Also explore King William district and do breakfast at Pioneer Flour Mill. several great museums, one on Texas culture and heratige by himisphere and an art museum located in a former mansion, must dos!
