snowboarding; sightseeing in March

Our sons are ages 15 and 17 and want to go snowboarding the last week of March. We don't ski or board. Where can we go that has daytime activities for us? We will be staying a week and would also like to do some day trips with them. Possibly even visit colleges. Have been looking at Keystone and other Summit County resorts. We have never been out west. Anything we should not miss if undecided about a particular area?

I'm guessing you're referring to Colorado for Summit County...But where "out west" are you currently considering? You might be better suited by researching on skiiing- and snowboarding- specific websites. Or, if you can post a reply with a specific territory, we can all provide info/feedback...

Many resorts do not allow snowboarding so be sure to make sure to find one that does if that's one of your preferences.

The Lake Tahoe area has lots of options for other sightseeing and activities. There is the CA gold country, Carson City/Virginia City/Reno in Nevada, lake cruises, ...

Summit County is very snowboard-friendly. I would recommend Copper Mountain first for snowboarding. Then Keystone and Breckenridge. You can stay in Frisco and easily access all 3 resorts.

As for colleges in the area, it depends on what you are looking for. CU in Boulder is about 2 hours away from Summit County. CSU in Ft. Collins is about 45 minutes from Boulder. There are a lot of smaller state schools scattered across the state. Plus some private schools including Colorado College in Colorado Springs and DU in Denver.

I should mention Silverthorne is also good for accomodations for all 3 resorts.
