Snow in March?

My girlfriend and I are going to Vermont on March 13 and 14. We are from Florida and are really looking forward to seeing snow. Is there usually snow on the ground at this time? Also, I know it's for kids, but we'd like to go sledding. Are there plenty of hills to go down or specific spots you would recommend? Thanks

At the rate this winter is going, yes we'll probably still have snow in March. You can drive around and see where some sledding is going on. I don't think you'll be the only adults. Another option would be tubing at one of the ski areas. I bet if you stop in at any convenience store with a teenager on duty, you can ask about the best sledding spots. You'll have a great time.

There is typically snow on the ground in mid March, especially in the mountains. This time of year the weather can be very unpredictable - anything from a blizzard to sunny and 50's. As for hills to slide on, nearly all of Vermont is mountains and hills. Woodstock and Stowe are both beautiful towns surrounded by mountains.

LOL, you could probably go to Fla or NC and get snow the way things are going!

Lo and behold. We have a 2nd home in Sarasota, FL, but live in VT, where we are right now.

There's almost always lots of snow in March, and the way the winter has been going this year, it's a safe bet you'll see plenty. There's always spring-skiing in VT into April, anyway, since ski resorts make their own snow, if they happen to not have enough.

I don't know what part of VT you'll be visiting, but most ski areas offer winter sports besides skiing, such as tubing, sledding, skating, etc. Smuggler's Notch in Jeffersonville has everything on-site, from sliding parties to horseback riding, pools, and video games. Stowe is also another great bet--just ask in the visitors' info. office on Main St.
