Snorkeling Sites
Anyone have suggestions of great places to snorkel in Waikiki or in Maui near Kanapali?

Hanauma Bay is a protected reserve on Oahu. It is closed on Tuesdays. Go Early in the morning to avoid crowds.
When you go check out the underwater digital cameras for rent by a company called VacationPIX. Cheaper than a disposable with over 100 pix for only $20. 808-926-7774 |
Im Maui, everyone will tell you Black Rock but it depends on the weather and what time of year you go. We were there in late March and the surf was so high and hard that no one was out. We found Kapalua Bay, 10 min from Kaanapali, to be great for our family. There is kind of a hidden public parking lot just before the Napili Kai hotel in the Kapalua resort area. This was a very picturesque spot and fairly good snorkelling.

If you are a little more adventurous try Sharks Cove on Oahu's North Shore between Haleiwa and Pupukea. This big lava-edged pool is one of Oahu's best sites with deep sea caves to the right of the cove. Don't worry the only sharks are in the name.

mikepmcm,
Is shark's cove accessible for snorkling in the winter when surf is high.... or when you say "adventurous", do you mean dangerous? |
