Snorkel tours to Molokini
 

I am taking a honeymoon trip to Maui the first week of June and would like to take a morning snorkel tour over to Molokini one day. I would like some recommendations on which charter company to use. I have looked at the book Maui Revealed and on this post, but I would like some other opinions. We are thinking about using Four Winds II. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We took a sailboat and I'm sorry I don't remember the name. The snorkeling was wonderful, however you get there, you will love it!

We used Maui Classic Charters (Four Winds II) last year and thought they were great. All of the catamaran type trips are pretty similar, however, some serve better food than others. The Four Winds serves BBQ which is nice as opposed to some that serve cold cut type lunches. You will be surprised how hungry you will be around lunchtime and the BBQ smells great! They do have a continental type breakfast in the morning available when you check in as well. The Molokini snorkel trip is definitely a must if you have never done it before. I suggest you book online to get the discount and to also make sure you get the date/time you want. Also, I strongly suggest the AM vs the PM departure because the wind comes up in the afternoon and the sea is quite a bit rougher. Have a great time!

I went to Molokini crater on a snorkel excursion that I believe was the Four Winds2. It was very nice. You could swim, snorkel or snuba. Snuba is like snorkeling and scuba combined. It's for people who have snorkeled before but maybe not gone scuba diving. I don't know, maybe you could do it anyway if you've not snorkeled before. The advantage to snuba over snorkeling is that you can go deeper with snuba (20 feet) because you have an air hose. People said it was awesome. They will give you a short lesson before you do it. A lesson also for snorkeling for beginners. The equipment on this trip was very clean as was the entire boat. The food was good. I've been on 3-4 snorkel trips and this one was the nicest as far as the niceness of the boat, crew and equipment. You can rent an underwater camera right from the boat. We used the rental as well as a disposable underwater camera. The pics from the rental were better. The cameraman also takes a video of the trip and of people snorkeling and snuba. He edits the video and adds music. It's quite nice and you can view it then decide if you would like to buy it. The captain points out dolphin, whales in season and sea turtles in the water as that is part of the trip. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this snorkel excursion.

Beware, if the weather or waves are poor the day you choose, they dont go to Molikini and do not refund your money. The go up the coast a few miles and you snorkel off shore. This is a place that can be driven to and you can snorkel for free.

Don't go with a PM trip to save money, too windy!<BR>2. Go with a sailing cat - tradewind sailing on the way back and catch some rays on the trampoline.<BR>3. Go with a 2 stop "turtle town" trip. Frogman did a great job getting us to snorkel with the turtles - a blast! <BR>

We went with Paragon last year and had a great time. They take fewer passengers (36 max) than some of the other boats and actually sail to and from Molokini rather than just motor. Also, they stop at one of the better spots - at the far right corner of the crater as you're facing the crater. Hope this helps.
