Smugger's Notch in June

My family is thinking about going to Vermont in early June and staying in Smugger's Notch. Is that a good time to go to Vermont (I just learned about the blackfly season)? Does anyone recommend staying in Smugger's Notch with 2 young kids (2 and 4 years old)? Thanks for any info.

Have not had an opportunity to get to Smuggler's Notch but I've heard great reviews. I live near Lake Placid, NY and can comment on general weather and black flies.

The black flies can be bad, I think they're bad now. We had rain this week and it's beginning to warm up, the perfect combination. They will mostly likely be around in early June, but it's hard to say. A few days of hot weather usually takes care of them. This week it's supposed to get into the 80's. Keep in mind the Adirondack/Vermont weather motto, If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes, it will cahnge.
