smoky mts,tn- le conte lodge

what has an one's experience been with this lodging?
is it worth the hike?

We have done the hike many times and stayed at the lodge -- we love it. The cabins are rustic and have the bunks / beds and little else. There is a main lodge where the family-style meals are served. Short hikes from the lodge area take you to the sunset and sunrise lookouts. It is simple, peaceful, and full of great memories for our family. Reservations can be difficult to come by, believe they fill up quickly after the opening day. Do you have any specific questions?

I know that it has been a long time since I posted this question. We have now moved to NC and my DH and DD are doing this hike next year. When is teh best time of year to do this hike? They are thinking May or October
Thanks

Whenever you can get a reservation. Really.
The two months you list are ideal, but the place books up fast.

We've done it in May, July, August and October. All were great. It depends on when you can get a booking.

We have done this hike a number of times. Getting the resv. is very hard. Our family loves hiking up and down in 1 day. Our best month for over-night is Oct. We have run into horse-hair frost before. Good luck.
