Should drive to Asheville for the night and stay at the Inn at Biltmore Estate. I think it is definitely what you are looking for. The rooms are beautiful and the views are great---looking over the grounds and the winery of the estate. That time of year would be perfect, too. The winery is located just behind the inn.
