Smoking in New England B&Bs????

I'm trying to find a B&B in New England (preferably near NYC) that allows smoking. It's my boyfriend's birthday and we are quitting smoking, so I'd like to be able to smoke once more. I can't seem to find a single decent one in the whole region. Please no anti-smoking diatribes, this is a genuine question. Thanks for any and all information. Happy New Year!

Please stay at a Motel 6 or a Econolodge with other smokers. It would be rude to stink up a clean airy room in a B&B. As smokers, you don't realize how disgusting rooms are after you leave. I also don't want to wake up down the hall from you because my eyes are burning from you're smoke.

DB, I appreciate your kind tone in what you say, but I am a respectful smoker and open windows, etc. I understand what you're saying and I'm very glad you said it nicely. I really don't want this post to turn into a smoking debate. Thanks.

Meg, Double check the no smoking policy. I've seen B&Bs allow smoking in outdoor areas of the property, but usually not in the bedrooms. Perhaps you could find an Inn that has a dining area with a bar that may allow smoking. Good Luck.

I've never seen a B&B (one worth recommending, anyway) which allows smoking.
B&B owners who take pride in their properties would never allow smoking on premises (indoors). Damages the linens and the risk of burns is too high to allow such.

Thanks for the info.

I've seen a lot that allow it outside, but that sort of defeats the purpose of being able to smoke there. Not to mention, I'm going in January, a bit cold to be standing in the snow.

True about linens and I realize SOME people may be careless about burns. Too bad they have to ruin it for me.

It's ironic that I won't have to deal with these things AFTER the birthday trip, as that's when we're quitting, but now it's important to me.

Thanks again for the tips.

It's a fact. Most smokers who quit don't "intentionally" smoke a last cigarette. They just quit. Just like most successful dieters don't go on one last eating binge. Screw smoking at the B&B. Just don't smoke again, starting now. Yes you can be a non-smoker AS WE SPEAK!
