Small wedding site

My sister is getting married in January and fell in love with the Lake Placid Lodge, but they don't allow children (even for the reception itself), so she needs to find another location. Does anyone have any recommendations? She is looking for a very upscale locale that would accomodate a very small wedding of 20 - 25 people.

Any advice would be appreciated ... thanks!

Have you also consulted people at www.theknot.com ?

Here's a website with a list of "romantic hotels" around the world. Lake Placid Lodge is on the list for NYS. Here are some others in NY

I found the website by mistake because my first thought was the Blantyre in Mass. and I was looking for their website. This one turned up instead, but it's better info for you.

We attended wedding at Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid. Kids were included.

To Mama who wrote about the Mirror Lake Inn, when was this wedding? I called there this morning before I read your post and the woman I spoke with said that they don't have weddings or receptions at all. I tried to explain that this would be more of an intimate family gathering (no dancing, etc) than more of the traditional wedding, but she still said no. Anyway, if this was a recent wedding that you attended there, maybe we can talk to someone else at the property and hopefully get another answer. Thanks!

Thanks, mclaurie for the site ... I'm looking at it now, and it has a lot of promising locations!

jlm, I would talk directly to Lisa. She and her husband own the place. The last name is Weinberg or Weisburg, something like that. Forgot to add the wedding was in October 2005. There were 20 guests only. You may also try Interlaken Inn but it is not on a lake
