Small town Georgia, near Cordele

We'll be traveling to Florida next week and will need to spend the night somewhere around Cordele, Georgia, along I-75. We'd love to find a spot not too far off the Interstate that is a typical "small town" with local accommodations and restaurant. Can you help with a recommendation?

We'll visit Americus and Plains on our return drive, so some other neat little town would be nice.

Thanks!

Well, the first thing that came to mind was the New Perry Hotel in Perry, GA. The hotel is not "new", but a long-time favorite.

I just checked the reviews at TripAdvisor though, they are not very positive.

I'll do some more thinking.

Thanks, starrs. I googled Perry hoping to find a "diamond" in the rough, so to speak. I'm afraid the tripadvisor reports have me worried.

Are you from the area?

If you think of any other options, know that I'm interested.

Again, thank you.

I travel the I75 corridor all the time. I usually stay in Hampton Inns along the way. I've walked the neighborhoods of Cordele for excercise, but can't think of a town right off 75 that gives you what I think you are looking for.

Adel added a tea room (which may not be there anymore) and it MAY have built up its downtown some.

Americus and the Windsor Hotel sound like what you are looking for - but that may be too far off 75 for you as you head down.

I have a very nice B&B/ inn suggestion in Macon and two GREAT restaurant suggestions in Macon - but it's not really small town. Big town or little city maybe.

What about something a bit different -

And, eating there or at the Daphne Lodge (great reviews on tripadvisor).

Also, look at the Henderson Village Country Resort.

I usually stay at the Hampton :-)

Oh,wow!
Thanks for your input. I'm very much interested in Lake Blackshear. Tried using their on-line site for making a reservation, but to no avail. Will have to call them tomorrow.

The restaurant list is quite lengthy. Any personal recommendations?
