Small oceanfront towns near Miami airport

We're looking for an oceanfront hotel in a small community near the airport, similar to the way Lauderdale by the Sea is to Ft. Lauderale airport. We're not into the party atmosphere or any regular tourist draws, just a beach and oceanfront view of the water. We'd like to keep the cost under 200.00 a night, if possible. I've been scouring the messages on this board until my eyes are crossede (see! that's what I mean - I can't even spell now!!) and can find lots of info about the hotels in Miami Beach, but that isn't what we're looking for. I'm sorry if this topic has been done to death, but would appreciate any help that can be sent our way. Thanks in advance for anything you can tell me.

The reason you're not finding anything is simple: It doesn't really exist.

MIA is inland, within the city limits of Miami, and the closest good beachfront is going to be South Beach (11 miles or so). There are acceptable hotels farther north in Miami Beach-- the surroundings are dull, but hey, there's beach!

Ohhhhh - that explains it. Ok, I guess I'm off to check out the hotels around the north side of Miami Beach.

Thanks for your help!

What are your dates? Mid January through Easter you probably can't find anything for $200.

Hollywood Beach is a quaint little beach town between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale that I just LOVE.

We were thinking of going Mar. 21-24, but are having lots of problems finding hotels with balconies so we can "water watch". The flights were cheap to Miami, which is really unusual for central Ohio, and I hate to just pass them by without trying to find a place that we would enjoy and maybe want to return to in the future.

Thanks for all responses.

Go to www.Sunny.org and look up Hollywood Beach hotels.

I love the Greenbriar Beach Resort but it hasn't opened up again yet.
