I also love small airports, RIC (Richmond, VA) is small. Like others, I will pay more to deal with a smaller airport.

Most of you are talking about class D and E airspace airports.

The fun ones are where the pilot has to make a radio call to get the runway lights turned on at night. The scariest moment I had was landing at Penn Valley airport at Selinsgrove, PA. The pilot cut the engine 30 seconds before touchdown. A sudden updraft turned the plane so that we were at 45 degrees to the runway at touchdown. Pilot hit the left brake until we were lined up and then hit both. |
