Sleigh rides in the mountains of NC?

I really want a Currier & Ives Christmas for my husband during the holidays! Does anyone know of a place to take a sleigh ride thru the mountains of NC? For this gal, not any sleigh ride will do! I don't want a cheesy sleigh ride that is geared to kids of families. I want a private ride, with the thermos of hot coffee, and the plaid lap blanket to keep us warm!!!!!!Any suggestions?

This is a dream for us, and it's on his list of things to do. He is recent cancer survivor, and now is the time to do it!

The trick will be enough snow to pull a sleigh. But, here's the place (formerly known as Chandi Farms)

They'll do a carriage ride the rest of the time. It was more muddy than snowy when we did it - but still very nice.

Now, the sleigh ride outside of Durango CO was straight out of Currier and Ives :-)

You can't count on snow in the NC mountains, even in the ski areas. It looks like those two links that Starrs posted may be your best bet. Beech Mountain is the highest elevation town in the area and thus get more snow, and it seems that the Chadi Farms is pretty close to Beech Mtn.

Here's an idea of where to stay nearby (in the Currier of Ives theme) -

Your better bet for snow will likely be Jan./Feb. also. We usually go up after they have a snow storm to get our fill (a weekends' worth) of snow.

Might be a lot of snow tomorrow if you can get up there that quickly! Winter Storm Warning for Mitchell, Yancey, and Avery counties.
