Thank you.

Above all, keep calm and don't lose your head!

By "the mansion tour," do you mean Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate? If so, then you park your car at a restoration site called Phillipsburg Manor.

There are several interesting restaurants in the Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown area.

As for shopping there's nothing really special in those two towns. However, there is an upscale mall called The Westchester in White Plains which is less than 10 miles away. It includes Norstroms and Neiman Marcus, plus a host of specialty shops.

Going to the Lyndhurst castle, House of Curiosities,
I see they are having a street fair on Beekman. Is it a few blocks to you know?
lol Cranachin....

If you mean Beekman Street in Sleepy Hollow, that's a few miles form Lyndhurst.
The best site/sight to see in that area is Kykuit. However, if you are already booked for Lyndhurst, it may be too much of mansion tours for one day!

Bowl with Rip Van Winkle? Grew up on those stories thanks to my dad.

Beware the dude on the horse who holds his head like a lantern.

And that was the single LEAST scary and most boring "ghost" or "macabre" story I've ever read.

For a serious suggestion - try googling Dutch history New York and see what pops.

Big fan of the Hudson Valley. If you can make it, The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze (you'd need a car) if fabulous.

The hudsonvalley.org website has great information and there are Sleepy Hollow events around Halloween.

The above-mentioned blaze takes place in Croton, which is about 8 mniles north of Sleepy Hollow. And, yes, it's definitely worth viewing. Advance registration is strongly urged.

There are two excellent websites to check, One is the above-mentioned www.hudsonvalley.org. The other is hvnet.com.

Yep, tickets for the Blaze are essential.

Thanks all for posting this information. I was going to try for a long weekend this October but accommodations for my crowd were a bit hard to find at short notice. So I've put it on the agenda for next October.
