Sleeps 21 near Disneyworld?
 

Granmda is planning a family trip in February to WDW. There will be 21 people - 13 adults and 7 kids ranging from 2 to 17. She wants to rent a house with at least 10 bedrooms so that everyone can stay together. She doesn't really want to split people up in 2 houses or use condos/hotels. But, I haven't been able to find a house that can accomodate this many people - does anyone have any suggestions of a particular house or a way I can go about finding one?

Just a word of advice from someone who has spent time in a big house with lots of people...no sleep. Having everyone in condos in the same building would be better. You can hang at the pool and go to bed when you want and wake up when you want. Some families can bunk together who have kids the same age and who get along well. When we traveled, we had some kids getting up at 6am. Kids don't know how to be quiet. So, here we are staying up till midnight or 1am talking and having someone else's kid getting me up at 5 or 6am. UGGHH>>>
My husband sleeps through anything. I don't. It was not very pleasant. I know Grandma means well and likes to have her kids close, but it won't be as much fun as you think.

Girlonthego... I hear you, I really do. But, Grandma wants to do this trip to celebrate her 85th birthday and - since she's very graciously paying - we're going to do it her way! She can take out her hearing aids and sleep through anything, so she won't mind the noise! :)

I was bored so I played around with Google for a while. Couldn't find any one house that can sleep 21 but did find two houses next door to each other and only 5 minutes from WDW. If you can't find one house, maybe this will work. Good luck!

You have a great Grandma and it's really wonderful that she's doing this, but this could be a logistical nightmare.

I realize that Grandma is calling the shots here, but since you have practically no chance of getting one house to sleep all 21 of you, maybe this is your chance to try to point out the good things about staying together in the same building, but in separate condo units.

One house (no matter how many bedrooms) equals only one kitchen, and probably not all that many bathrooms. If you have several condo units, it affords privacy to those who want it, and allows parents of younger kids to make them early breakfasts, snacks, etc. without disturbing everyone else. After all, doesn't Grandma want her grandkids/greatgrandkids to be taken care of too? You can all hang out together at the pool, and the building may have a large dining room you can reserve for a few big meals together.

As the previous poster pointed out, two houses side by side would also work, but if you can't find that, I really think that condo units would be most comfortable for everyone involved.

I would contact a realtor in the Orlando area. Since many real estate companies are also rental management companies, have a professional help with your legwork.

Our family had twelve people in a 3 bedroom condo near Disneyworld called Orange Lake. Maybe you could rent two? The fascilities were really nice. We rented through redweek.com - maybe you can use VRBO.com too.

Apparently the largest rental house you can get in the Orlando area is 6-7 bedrooms. I guess after that, it's considered a hotel and they have to meet a different code.

Anyway, we found two large rentals next to each other in Emerald Isle.

Now we just have to organize cars, meals, flights, etc...
