Sleep in Manhattan
 

Hi,
Me,my wife and our baby will visit Manhattan,NY for 6 nights at the beginning of April.
we started look for a apartment or hotel/apartment and a decent hotel around upper east side/upper west side/midtown/Chelsea cost minimum 150$ we didn't expect for this high price.
we search for apartment on Airbnb and hotel on booking.com and TripAdvisor.

where can we find good and cheap hotel/apartment ?

Does for renting an apartment also need to pay 14.75$+3.75$ tax ?

Look for an hotel/apartment, not an apartment. Most rentals for less than 30 days are illegal in NYC.

Sorry but Susie is right, short term rentals in NYC are illegal unless the owner lives on the premises. Being listed on AirBnB or other similar sites does not make them legal.

New York is just plain expensive--you might have difficulty finding what you want, given the prices for hotels. Try booking sites like booking.com and expedia.com.

Try Long Island City for cheaper hotels/motels. Only a few subway stops from downtown. Easy for sightseeing.

Yes, all hotel rooms have taxes added to the per night cost.

$150 is VERY cheap for NYC - if you expected less you probably didn't do your homework before deciding on visiting Manhattan. Some cities are just expensive (London/NYC/San Francisco etc.) Unfortunately that is just a fact of life.

Long Island City is likely your best bet. Do NOT fall for an airbnb listing since is it will almost certainly be an illegal rental.

Priceline only guarantees a bed for two people (and that can be a double bed, rather than a queen size or king size). Not all hotels will have cribs or even room for a crib. So it depends on your baby's sleeping arrangements (I suppose a folding crib that you bring with you might fit anywhere).

Not only may the room not be big enough for a crib . . . the hotel could deny you entry simply because your PL bid would be for 2 people and even an infant/toddler would be a 3rd person.

Did you check out Long Island City like a couple of us have suggested?

I would not try priceline unless you have experience with it. New York is just plain expensive.

If you do decide to bid on Priceline do NOT bid below 3* - since many Priceline hotels are quite loose in their interpretation - and what they call a 3* many would call a 2*

I presume you mean you want a maximum of $150 per night?

I usually stay in an AppleCore Hotel in NY and their rates are very reasonable for NY, anyway. At least I don't think that is a super expensive time of year, the one I usually stay in has rooms with two queens for $230 a night then, but they do have one with 2 queens at only $186 a night, which isn't too much higher than $150 (unless you meant that to include tax, also). It's the Ramada NY Eastside on Lexington Ave. I don't know that area but it's only 3 blocks from a subway stop.
