SLC or Park City?

My husband's on a work project out in Utah and I'm flying in to Salt Lake City to meet him for the weekend from Kentucky (teens staying home!). Will be there Thurs PM - Mon AM. We currently have reservations at Sunrise Lodge by Hilton in Park City but I'm wondering if Park City is the best location for us to stay? Downtown Park City looks cool but I know it's off season so not sure how much will be open. Right now we're thinking of checking out Olympic Park, Utah Jazz game, and finding some local hikes (recommendations?). Other than that we don't really have anything planned. So...keep our Park City reservations or better somewhere else? Any not miss places?

Hi

Do you mean the Sundail Lodge at Canyons base area? Im not familiar if that is run by Hilton so Im asking. There is also a new Hyatt Place that is not at any of the resorts, but on the highway into town.

Anyway, our weather has finally turned to late fall. There was snow last night down to about 8000 ft. You can still hike at the lower altitudes if dressed apprepriately.

Town doesnt close down. There may be some restaurants closed for fall vacation, but there are so many, and many excellent ones, you wont have a problem. Olympic Park is always open. Outdoor activities can be checked on line, or you can just call for current status. Its always interesting even if the summer activities are not open.

Its about a 25 min drive to downtown SLC, varies a little depending on exactly where you are staying. If you are staying at the Canyons, be prepared for a very quiet stay. Its about 5 miles and 10 mintes by car over to Main St. From there.

Question. I just realized your husband will be working in SLC. Were you planning to drive down with him each day or stay in PC and do things on your own? There is a free shuttle that goes almost everywhere, but it wouldnt make a lot of sense for the night you plan to see a Jazz game unless you go down with him.

There is an Express UTA bus that picks up at a couple places in PC and goes directly downdown. It goes about 4 x day last I heard. Check the Utah Transit Authority site for exact info. Otherwise Uber would be a very good choice vs. rentimg two cars.....

One of the most memorable things we did on our trip west was to go to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearsal.
