sky auction website?

Has anyone used sky auction website? Is the company reliable?

I used Sky Auction more than a year ago for an all inclusive in the Turks/Caicos. I received the paperwork from Sky Auction confirming my hotel stay and had no trouble upon check-in at the hotel. Just make sure you are getting a good price.

I'm getting the impression that some inside shills are bidding up the prices, or there's some really dumb people out there.

I used SkyAuction a few years ago for an all-inclusive in Jamaica. I called to confirm with the airlines & resort the week of departure and found that the air had been canc. and the resort had the incorrect # of days. After a few calls to SkyAuction everything was worked out and all came off without a hitch. I would use them again but would also be sure to call & confirm.

I've used skyauction quite a few times...they are reliable, but be prepared to be flexible when it comes to airfare. I had to ask them more than once to try and book me according to the times I wanted to fly.

Good to see that some folks are getting good value from that website. I found it a few years ago and my impressions were like those of DB's. I didn't understand why prices were often higher than what you could find through other means. I wasn't seeing any great deals and wondered if prices were purposely being bid up.

I just started bidding on Airline Tickets on Sky Auction and it looks to me like the same people keep bidding up the prices to totally outrageous amounts. For someone to bid $250.00 for a ticket with $85.00 taxes/fees for anyplace in the Continental U.S. is crazy since you can get tickets for less than half that price!!
See ya Sky Auction....

We (4 of us) have gone to Kauai twice through Sky Auction for a 7-day stay each, the last one being via Sun Travel. Both times were air/hotel-condo packages that were okay and cheaper than other possibilities at the time. BUT, you have to bid on the right thing and one that isn't going through the roof, also don't try to do air/hotel as separate items because the "Taxes/Service Charges" and "upgrades" will kill you. Be very careful regarding the "Taxes/Service Charges" and additionals such as departing from an airport near you and/or the time of year -- or even day of the week.

The best thing instead of the auction is to go for a longer stay such as 2, 3 or even 4 weeks (if you have the time) and get more bang for airfare buck -- and stretch your hotel dollars by staying in an off-the-path condo, or do the Kalster by staying in a 3-star hotel.

I still stand by my previous post. ((#))

DB certainly has more experience that me. So of course temper what I am telling you with what he/she says. I have just looked at sky auction offers. It never looks like a good deal to me. The hotels are never as good as what I could find on my own. I recall locations being in either out of the way or in unattractive locations. I go to Hawaii frequently so I know the locations often. Giant monstrasities are often offered also.
