skiing lake tahoe with kids
Any suggestions for skiing in lake tahoe on mid March with three kids ages 4,8,11 . . . ???

Northstar and Sierra at Tahoe are very family friendly. Heavenly and Squaw have great ski schools. We spent 10 days in LT on spring break last year with our kids. We skied Heavenly, Squaw, Sierra, Kirkwood and Alpine Meadows.

What level skiiers are you and your children? We just skiied Heavenly last week and I thought it was a great mountain for intermediates (kids are 11 & 13 and intermediate skiiers and snowboarders). I think beginners would be disappointed at Heavenly. The small amount of beginner terrain available looked very crowded. Also, Northstar and Squaw have much better prices for children. I believe that kids under 12 can ski for $5 at Squaw.
Have a great trip! |
Squaw is a great place to ski. If you stay in the village you won't have any problems.

Great thing about Squaw is that the bunny slopes are mostly at the top of the mountain, where there is also an ice rink, restaurant, and even a pool. But it's expensive. We like to take our kids to Homewood, which is really lovely, much smaller, less crouded, and cheaper. They have a good kid's program too.
