Skiing in Vermont
Hi all. We just got back from a really fun ski trip to Mt. Snow. We had great conditions (except yday) and liked the resort. We also treated ourselves to a ski in/ski out location, which was absolutely wonderful.
We'd like to return to Vermont next year, and are interested in suggestions for a good place. We need a terrain park for my snowboarding son, and don't want to travel all the way to the Canadian border. Not astromical ski in and out accommodations would be terrific, too. What are your thoughts on Killington? Are conditions generally OK first week of March? (typically, that is too late for decent skiing in the closer to us Poconos ski places). |
Killington is a mega resort!
I would try Okemo...family friendly.....plenty big for all skiers/boarders.....has some nice slopside accom. Early March is still fine. Poconos should be fine this year for early/late March (maybe it will stop snowing by then :-)!! Keep checking with the resorts before you head up! -john |
Lots of nice areas - check out Pico which is the next mountain over from Killington and much less crowded. Bolton Valley is also a nice self contained medium sized ski area. As the above mentioned, Okemo is also a good option, so is Bromley. Killington is a mega resort with large crowds but also a huge selection of trails. All ski areas are going strong in early March - Killington often goes to the end of April.

Agree completely with Okemo. Killington is almost too big and spread out. Okemo is a lot cozier.

I have heard many good things about Okemo.
Does Pico have a lot of intermediate terrain? Less crowds sounds great to me! I'll need to check both have terrain parks. Thanks, all! |
Okemo is great. It is a bit more like a western ski area, with wide, rolling trails. I really like Stowe, and they have awesome facilities for boarders, but it is a much larger resort, and farther north. I would avoid Killington altogether.
