Planning a skiing trip to vail with my family, someone recommended th arrabelle resort, is it worth the money? and they also said to rent the condo through prudential is it safe and do they offer good quality? Thanks

The Arrabelle is not worth the money in my world. However, it has a good location and lots of amenities if that's what you want. Have you checked rates for their condos?

It is close to the newest resort in the area. It is located in Lionhead and at the base for the gondola. But it will be very pricey even by Vail standards. If you can afford it it will be worth it.

We go to the Sonnenalp Resort for a conference every June. It is a very nice hotel, with charming suites, a nice spa, good restaurants, good service, and located right in town. We get a one-bedroom suite that is huge, with two balconies and a fireplace in the living room.

The Sonnenalp is lovely, but during ski season its rates are comparable to the Arrabelle. The OP needs to come back and tell us whether these properties/rates are what they wanted to spend.

Is arabelle woth the $? It depends why you are going. If you are going to ski all day, and enjoy the beautiful city at night, you need a bed and maybe a hot tub or sauna. If you are bringing the whole family and you need a base because some ski a little or not at all, arabelle makes 'cents.' When I go to Vail its with the local ski club thats rents a bus and blocks rooms at a 2 oand 3 star hotels and Im perfectly happy with that.

Some people like all the bells and whistles and have the money to pay for them. To each his/her own and their budget.

thanks for the tips! i'am looking into the sonnenalp resort. It's our first time skiing since we live in the caribbean, so we are really excited just even to see snow!! Yes bringing the whole family so basically looking for a good and nice hotel.

As I said, the Sonnenalp is lovely, but I will point out it's a little bit farther from the chairlifts and it's not ski in/ski out. There is a town bus stop just a few steps from the lobby entrance.

Unless you are firmly decided, though, may I suggest the following:

A little closer to the lifts is The Lodge. Very close to the lifts are the Tivoli Lodge (no condo-type rooms) and The Christiania. All three are in the Village core area.

We have stayed at the Sonnenalp and Christiania (many years ago) and Tivoli (more recently). Most recently, we've stayed at the Gasthof Gramshammer which is smaller, more European-type hotel.

IMO, you can't go wrong with any of these options, including the Sonnenalp.

What time period are planning this trip? Vail can be a real zoo at certain times of the year.

Sonnenalp and Arrabelle are both good options. In general, you don't last in Vail as a resort unless you are a quality operation.

It has been a pretty good while since we've been to Vail but we started out at Lionshead and then settled in Manor Vail at the other end. Right ON the slopes.

Not sure why Cargillman is reviving all of these old skiing posts. I assume OP would have made a decision by now.

I don't think there's anything wrong about adding crrent comments to a thread that was started a while back. If the topic is interesting to me, I don't care when it began--the newer posts could still be relevant.
