Skiing in late Feb/Early March

I live in the NJ/NY and would like to take an inexpensive ski trip, but not on the east coast. Something fun with good skiing that may have cheap, but accessible lodging options. There are just two if us going- we snowboard.

What is cheap?

Sundance near Provo, Utah would be ideal. You could stay at the Residence Inn Provo. A lot of skiers stay there, and it only takes minutes to be up at the slopes. This is a small, but very good resort owned by Robert Redford. The scenery in the area is phenomenal. And, yes, it is very good for snowboarding. You will see several snowboarders. In fact, my daughter took lessons there.

A lot depends on what "cheap" and "accessible" mean, but Salt Lake City is the bargain ski capital of North America AND it has the best snow.

SLC is a great hub and if you really want to cheap it out you can stay in town at anything from fleabag to luxe, get a discount lift tix at a rental shop and take the light rail/ski bus package to Snowbird/Alta or Solitude/Brighton(?). No boards at Alta, however.

It's not on slope -- but on slope and cheap is a rare find indeed.

It may be too late for this year but for inexpensive skiing, I suggest you join a ski club. Here in Akron there are several. When we did a lot of skiing we belonged to the Goodyear Ski Club. We never went to a meeting, just paid our dues which enabled us to travel with them. Ski clubs offer unbelievably great ski packages.
I think most of this year's trips are at full capacity right now--the club plans 2 big trips out west and several weekend trips.
