Skiing in April

Our school system's spring break is the 2nd week of April this year. Our kids (and myself) would really like to go skiing. Any comments on where we might go this late in the year that would have decent snow?

Mt. Hood here in Oregon. There is skiing almost year round, except for only about a month or so around August.

kduncan,

Head to Utah. The April skiing in Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons (Alta and Snowbird, Brighton and Solitude) is fantasic in April.

Snow pack is still increasing in April. It's historically our second biggest snowfall month. March is normally the biggest.

Conditions can be anything from deep powder to tee shirt weather, sometimes in the same day!

Alta, Brighton and Solitude usually close after Easter week, or mid-April whichever comes later, but Snowbird always stays on regular ski schedule through the first weekend in May. After that, they go to "summer skiing" as long as the snow lasts. Late year they were open until the 3rd week in June if I remember correctly.

We just had our first real snowstorm of the year. About 4 inches at my house (lower elevations in Park City) and they've had much more up high. Looks like it's going to be a good year!

I've skied Breckenridge, Big Sky and Lake Louise in April. Personally, I think Breckenridge (or Keystone) is the best bet, due to its higher altitude.
